Designed by experts doctors and researchers at the Royal Marsden NHS foundation trust, the Institute of Cancer Research, London and the Imperial College London, this AI tool can detect if abnormal signs from CT scans are cancerous or not. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 

The more you know the better: An algorithm was made based off of 500 different scans on patients with large lung nodules to help train the AI model to recognise early signs of lung cancer. 🫁 

After training, the AI can spot signs of cancer unrecognisable by the human eye. 👀 

Outperforming traditional tests: The AI can currently spot cancerous cells more accurately than pre-existing tests like the Brock score. 📝 

Performing at an 82% accuracy rate and with speed, lung cancer patients have the chance to live healthier and longer lives. 🫂 

Lung cancer is also the biggest world wide cause of cancer-related deaths. So, this change is groundbreaking. 📈

As deforestation in the Amazon reaches a tipping point. How can we have the head start on protecting the land?

The OG: One of Hinton’s students during his time at Google happens to now be a chief scientist at OpenAI, his direct competition. 🥊 

With the race to be king of AI, Hinton says how the fierce competition between Google and OpenAI has led to “fake imagery” around AI where no one can “tell what is true anymore”.

One at a time: Hinton believes that misinformation is the biggest threat in the AI world right now. Bigger than any other risks currently posed by AI.

He believes AI threats against humanity come much further down the line.
