Serious talk this time round’: With the rapid progression of AI, Joe Biden spoke to CEO’s from Google and Microsoft, outlining that companies need to be more transparent with policymakers about AI.

Vice President, Kamela Harris, also said that while AI tech has the potential to improve lives, it also poses many safety risks.

In a “frank and constructive discussion”, Biden emphasised the importance of evaluating the safety of AI products and protecting users from malicious attacks.

There seems to be a need for quick advancement in creating legislation and regulations in the AI industry.

More so, the importance of monitoring the rapid growth of AI tech. Too much too soon could do more worse than good.

Sometimes going smaller is better 💼

With the mass layoffs taking over many major tech companies, the search for security and happiness on the job seems to be flowing further and further away.

Vinod Khosla, a high profile venture capitalist in the US has reported that there has been an increase in ex-Google and Meta employees pitching their new startups to him.

Many of these pitched startups have been in the AI field, a sign that AI startups will only evolve in the coming years to compete against the big dogs.

One of the pitched startups we found particularly interesting is Character AI, a chatbot that allows users to have conversations with more familiar personalities.

The true AI assistant: Raising over $225 million after just one year, Ex-DeepMind leader, Mustafa Suleymanand and his team at Inflection AI embarked on a journey to create a true AI-based assistant.

To make this possible, they claim to be developing one of the largest language models capable of simulating that human genuineness in conversation with AI.

Named Pi, standing for personal intelligence, the tool plays the role of an active listener who gives personal responses. Helping you solve your problems and give advice.

Pi is made with the intention of getting to know you better over time.

While Pi might not be able to give factual details like ChatGPT, it provides a far more personal experience that doesn’t return those weird para-social outputs.

Pi is not publicly available for use just yet.

Ashton Kutcher is more than just an actor🕺 

On the big screen in the past, he now works on building a tech-savy tomorrow.

Actor → VC Legend: Kutcher and his team of LP’s have put together a new investment fund in just 5 weeks worth $243 million USD.

All with the intention of investing in more AI startups.

Kutcher’s VC firm, Sound Ventures LLC has been around for 8 years, spending 7 years investing in AI. They are no stranger to this space.

Their portfolio in modern AI startups are already boomin’, with investments in OpenAI, Anthropic and Stability AI.

When ChatGPT launched, Kutcher knew it would be an “absolute breakthrough”.

Where he invests next is the big question on everyone’s mind.

He does say however that “AI regulation is need badly”, “just as it is needed in the crypto industry”. Something that has been brought up recently across the AI space.
