🦆 Designing New Proteins with AI

SEE: Hot headshots with Aragon

Hey man,

QuackedAI is making a splash!

Here’s the AI rundown for today:

  • QuackedAI x EduGrowth Expo 😁

  • AI models are now prohibited from using NY Times media 🚫

  • Scientists create new proteins using FrameDiff 🤩

  • Quack’s New AI Find: Aragon

  • Duck Duck Goose 😂

ONE WEEK LEFT… 🥳

Hopefully Quack will see you there!

If you were unaware, QuackedAI is hosting a booth at EduTECH’s Innovation Alley expo, where we have been given the opportunity to showcase our brand and services to industry professionals and educational institutions 🥰

AND our founder, Donald La will be participating in a pitch competition in front of an expert panel featuring tech industry specialists and investors 🤯

Come and support the Quacked Team! 💙 It will mean a lot to us.

24th and 25th of August from 9am - 4:45pm at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Register your attendance using this link - it will take less than 2 minutes!

NYT’s content BANNED from training AI

Who even reads the T&Cs…

Not long ago, the New York Times updated its terms and conditions to stop AI models from using its original content to train their generative systems.

This includes: text, photographs, metadata, audio and video compilations. Additionally, automated tools like website crawlers (ie. computer programs designed to automatically search and index websites) are also forbidden to use without written permission from the publication. 💻

Any party who doesn’t adhere to these restrictions could potentially face unspecified fines and penalties.💰

This move may be a crackdown response to Google’s recent update to their privacy policy - the ability to collect public data from the web to train its AI services. 🌐 Many other popular models such as ChatGPT, which trains on various datasets that may contain copyrighted and protected materials.

Obviously, New York Times is not so keen on this happening to them. 😮‍💨

AI crafts protein structures out of thin air 🧬

Did someone say protein??!! - A gym bro, probably

MORE GAINS… in the world of pathogens and biomedicine. 💊

Researchers at MIT CSAIL have developed FrameDiff, a computer tool designed to create new protein structures beyond what’s found in nature.

The tool generates new captures (ie. “frames”) that align with the properties of existing protein structures.🙊 The algorithm’s job is to move and rotate these frames, thereby enabling it to construct new design sequences for synthetic proteins!

Generation of new protein structures using FrameDiff

“In nature, protein design in a slow-burning process that takes millions of years. Our technique aims to provide an answer to tackling human-made proteins that evolve much faster than nature’s pace.”

Jason Yim, MIT CSAIL student

But Quack, how is this beneficial to us? 🧐

Well, science nerds will know that proteins are essential for building and repairing muscles, as well as making hormones and enzymes. Having new sets of protein structures will enhance those capabilities - allowing them to attach to other molecules more selectively. This offers numerous possibilities such as creating more efficient antibodies and gene therapy. 🤓☝️

Phewpf. Okay, that’s way too many ‘scienc-ey’ terms for an AI newsletter.

Quack’s new AI find: Aragon ✅

Getting a LinkedIn profile picture just got a whole lot easier….

Remember the days of lockdown and ZOOM? Where you happily sat in your pyjamas during meetings and classes. Now you can have full-blown professional photoshoots the exact same way.

Headshots are important for your online portfolio, whether it be for your resume, social platforms or contact cards. 😜

Aragon AI helps you generate said headshots based on personal photos you submit and any details you want to see in the outputs - more than one too - so that you can pick your favourite out of the bunch. 🤟The tech has over 30k satisfied users, and works under a paid subscription (starting at $29). Considering the costs of booking a professional photoshoot, it seems pretty worth it.

Here are some client reviews (with photos!):

Don’t they look so handsome! Nothing might make you stand out more than a good first impression (of your face 😆).

Duck, duck… Goose!

Today’s question:

Why couldn’t the robot run away from the police?

Yesterdays Question: What did the Droid do at lunchtime?

Answer: Had a byte!
