Google, Universal Music and many other music companies are working on licensing artists’ voices to create AI-generated songs. 🤖

This emergence came about as the music industry faces new challenges monetising ‘deepfake’ songs. 🎶 

The industry is in early talks - discussing on whether fans can legally create tracks using various voice generators while also paying rightful copyright owners.

Google have announced the development of their own program - MusicLM, which is an artificial model that transforms text and descriptions into high quality music vocals. 👩‍🎤

AI’s contribution towards fighting breast cancer 💜

A study published in The Lancet Oncology shows that AI can help doctor’s read mammograms (breast cancer screening tests) more accurately and quickly.

Here is how the research process went: 🔬

• Researchers examined scans from more than 80,000 women in Sweden who underwent a mammogram from 2021 - 2022

• These scans were analysed by two groups: AI + Radiologists and only Radiologists

• The group with AI + Radiologists were able to detect 20% more cancers

The AI did not increase the number of false positives AND reduced human workload by 44%.👷‍♀️

There’s still a lot of research to be done, but overall this is a HUGE step for the medical world! 🩺

An author’s fight against imposter books 📖

Amazon has recently removed half a dozen AI-generated books from their digital bookshelves, after they were published under an author’s name without her consent. 📚

Jane Friedman, a veteran in the publishing industry, reported that some fans had stumbled upon, and were reading imposter works 😱 They notified her directly after noticing that the writing quality was far different than her recognisable style.

However, AI itself is not the problem.

AI scanners are also what helped to detect this con in the first place, as Amazon employs programs that scan writer content. It all comes down to using AI in a way that is respectful towards human creators. 🫀

The fraudsters who used AI generation to capitalise on her reputation and name are yet to be found… 🧐
