WhatsApp’s new custom AI stickers 👩‍💻

Family group chats are about to get even more hectic…

Multinational messaging platform, WhatsApp, has introduced a new feature that will bring generative AI tools to the platform for the first time.

This new tool update means that users wont require external apps or design skills to create customised chat stickers anymore 😇. Users will simply need to enter a text-based command in order for the stickers to be generated (like other image generator tools Midjourney and Dall-E).

“AI stickers are generated using a secure technology offered by Meta”

WhatsApp news site

Although it boasts close to 3 billion monthly active users around the world, WhatsApp will currently only grant a limited number of users access to this feature. Android users signed up to WhatsApp’s Google Play Beta Program have access to this custom sticker creator tool. 🤫

Once this releases to the general public, Quack will make a palette of cute ducks! 🐤

Innovations from ‘AI Week’ expo 🌃

AI collaborates two nations!

The ‘UK AI Week in Bangkok’ was a four-day event (15th - 18th August) organised by the British embassy in Thailand. It aimed to discuss AI governance and applications, highlighting the UK's expertise in AI and strengthening the national partnership between the UK and Thailand. 🌏

Attendees included nine British AI and data businesses, who showcased their capabilities in areas like agriculture, finance, and cybersecurity. 👨‍💼

It was bustling with activity - from high level discussion to commercial exhibitions. The event included a policy roundtable with experts and policymakers involving discussions on AI regulation, investment strategies, and AI's impact on various industries.

Round-table AI experts and policy makers

The expo ended with an event called 'Turing Night,' which saw tributes to advancements in computing and a screening of the 2014 film, The Imitation Game. 🎭

“…By championing innovation and fostering ethical AI development, the UK is enthusiastic about charting a future alongside Thailand, where AI is harnessed for the greater good.”

David Thomas, British Charge d’Affaires to Thailand

The UK is committed to AI development and international collaboration and plans to host an AI 'Safety Summit' in November 🌄. They also announced a £100 million fund to support AI chip production in the UK.

ChatGPT for emails: A guide 📫

Quack’s little how-to segment

Whether you’re a student or not, learning to format emails is a no brainer. Its the main method of professional communication but can often be taxing and time-consuming depending on the content and your schedule. 😮‍💨

To make life a little easier, here’s a general prompt you can copy/paste into ChatGPT when you need that extra assistance:

  • Write me an email to my [insert recipient’s position/title] for [enter purpose]

Now, add on something extra to dictate the tone:

  • Make the tone of this email more [formal/informal]

  • Use [simple/complex] language

  • Make it sound [apologetic/enthusiastic]

As always, even though this feature is powerful - make sure you double check the content before sending it out 🤓. Remember to include any personal details that ChatGPT doesn’t know, like your sign-off, files or anything else that’s important.

Duck, duck… Goose!

Today’s question:
