MLCommons - an artificial intelligence benchmark group - has released the results of new tests that assess the speed at which high-end hardware can execute AI models. 🐆
So how does it work?
The new MLPerf benchmark focuses on a large language model containing 6 billion parameters, specifically designed to summarise CNN news articles. This benchmark is designed to simulate the ‘inference’ phase of AI data processing - which is a critical component that enables the functionality of generative AI tools and other AI applications.
And in first place we have…
Nvidia Corp! 🥳 Their chip emerged as the top-performing hardware for running a large language model, closely followed by a semiconductor produced by Intel Corp.
Intel's success in the AI benchmark tests is attributed to its Gaudi2 chips, which are developed by the Habana unit. While the Gaudi2 system performed well, it was still approximately 10% slower than Nvidia's system in these tests. 😮💨

Notes that many investors remain cautious about how the competitive landscape in this field will evolve in the future.

In the next 18 months, it’s suggested that AI adoption will primarily benefit engineering and sales and marketing functions. Companies will have an increasing demand for talent in AI - particularly those experienced in developing or integrating large language models.

German beer brand Beck's - along with several other companies - has used ChatGPT to create a futuristic beverage called "Beck’s Autonomous." The AI not only devised the recipe for the lager but designed its packaging, suggested the name, developed an advertising campaign, and even came up with a design for the beer's website. ✍️
Beck's has chosen to keep the specific recipe for "Beck’s Autonomous" a secret, but it has confirmed that the beer includes the four fundamental ingredients of beer-making: water, grain, hops, and yeast.
A limited batch of 150 units of this beer has already been distributed to testers free of charge. The company intends to assess the feedback from these testers before determining whether to make it more widely available to the public.
The product tagline is "the beer that made itself," - a phrase created by ChatGPT as well. 🍺

This case only teases the extent to which AI assists companies in creating entire products and campaigns, while still maintaining brand originality and creativity. ✨
